Technologies · scnd

scnd.

scnd connects a language, a local AI model, or an MCP server running on your computer to Nostr, so you can talk to it anytime from any Nostr app.

What it does

  • Installs on Windows, Mac or Linux, and stays on in the background.
  • Works with ShipMBLang, local models that speak the OpenAI-style API, other HTTP backends, and MCP servers.
  • Chat publicly by @mentioning the backend in a thread. Each thread keeps its own ongoing session.
  • Send private messages with encrypted Nostr DMs (NIP-17).
  • Private by default: only the people you allowlist get answers, nobody else can run code, and the backend's secret key stays in a locked file on your computer.

How to use it

  1. Get a Nostr app. Primal, Damus and Amethyst all work. Your npub is your public address and safe to share. Your nsec is your private key, so never share it.
  2. Install scnd (Coming soon) and run scnd. A setup page opens on your computer, where you pick your backend, paste your npub so only you can use it, and keep the default relays.
  3. Run scnd start. If something seems wrong, run scnd doctor to check your setup.
  4. Send a message. @mention the backend's npub from your Nostr app, for example Let n be 2. Show n. ShipMBLang replies 2, and you can keep replying in the same thread.
  5. Private DMs need an app that supports NIP-17, like Amethyst. On Primal or Damus, use public mentions instead.
